Image of a jockey and his pair of cows competing at Pacu Jawi (Cow Race) Arena, Padang Luar, Tanah Datar, Sumatra, Indonesia. Pacu Jawi is an extra-ordinary cultural event held yearly at a muddy rice field in conjunction with the harvest season. The jockey rides a pair of cows, each cow with their own individual yoke while holding on only to the cow's tail. The two cows are loosely held together making it that much harder to keep them together and maintaining a long consistent run. In order to force the cows to run faster, they would bite on the cow's tail. Sometimes the two cows would run in different directions "splitting the jockey" in half and making the jockey fall flat on his face in the dirty and muddy water. (EDITORIAL USE ONLY)
